Port of Barcelona first to sign stevedore deal
Barcelona has become the first port in Spanish territory to approve a port workforce agreement following the Royal Decree to reform stevedoring in May last year. For the new agreement to be ratified, the only steps required now are for approval by a workers’ assembly and then confirmation by the legal services of the Association of Port Stevedoring Companies of Barcelona, according to the State Coordinator of Maritime Workers (CETM ). The Port of Barcelona currently has a total of 1,034 dockworkers.
