ETA’s Santi Potros released yesterday

Santiago Arrospide Sarasola, better known as Santi Potros,was released from the Topas prison in Salamanca yesterday, after having spent 31 of his 70 years in prisons in Spain and France. An ideologist of some of the bloodiest attacks of the Basque terrorist organisation ETA, such as Hipercor in 1987 in Barcelona, which left 21 people dead, Potros was welcomed on his release by his wife and other relatives. The former ETA militant was surrounded by the press as he left but made no comment. Potros was arrested in France and waited 13 years for his extradition, being finally sentenced to 60 years and his release yesterday came after serving the maximum term permitted in Spain.
