20,000 abortions registered in Catalonia in 2017
A total of 19,686 voluntary abortions were registered in Catalonia last year. Of this number, almost a third, some 31%, were on women under 24. The figures published by the Catalan health department cover abortions carried out in public health centres and accredited private centres. The study included both women who are resident and non-resident in Catalonia, between 15 and 44 years of age.
