North Korea celebrates its 70th anniversary

North Korea celebrated the 70th anniversary of its founding yesterday with a fairly low-profile military parade not transmitted on state media, most probably to avoid possible fallout during the current dialogue with the U.S. The North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, presided over the celebrations but did speak and the intercontinental and medium-range ballistic missiles were not seen this year. An important Chinese delegate alongside the Korean leader on the podium also hinted that the recently strained relations between the two countries is a thing of the past.
