Swedish far right brings down prime minister

Sweden’s Prime Minister, Social Democrat Stefan Löfven, was dismissed by Parliament yesterday after losing a censure motion filed by the opposition by 204 votes to 142. The right-wing alliance (moderate, centre, democratic Christian and liberal) joined forces with the xenophobic Swedish Democrats (SD) to evict Löfven from power and leave the country in an unstable political situation. The vote shows the key role of the extreme right in the fragmented Parliament after the September elections.
