Judges accuse Le Pen of mis- appropriation

The French far-right leader Marine Le Pen, accused so far of abusing privilege for the alleged illegal hiring of parliamentary assistants in the Eurochamber, was yesterday accused by the judges of embezzlement of public funds. Le Pen gave evidence in Paris in the case opened in 2016 following a complaint filed by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF). Investigators believe that the assistants were in fact being paid with EU salaries for work they were doing for Le Pen’s National Rally party.
