Altsasu: Hundreds turn out to oppose far right and Rivera
“Get them out!” It was with this cry that residents of the Navarre town of Altsasu received the attendees of a far-right event organized by Ciudadanos, with the PP and the ultra-right wing VOX party. The event was so contentious, it was held in a square protected by the Civil Guard and police. Tension was already high, and residents had, the day before, organized an event called “Leave Altsasu in Peace”, considering Sunday’s gathering a provocation, in a town where a Civil Guard’s injured ankle resulted in terrorism charges against youth two years ago.
