Man who threatened to kill Sánchez worked at the CTTI

Manuel Murillo Sánchez, who has been in custody since September accused of planning an attempt on the life of Spanish prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, until the end of last year worked at the Catalan government’s Centre of Telecommunications and Information Technology, known as CTTI.

Murillo worked in the strategic government facility as a security guard for the Enerpro company, who sent him to work there from September 19 to December 21, coinciding with the Catalan parliamentary elections.

On hearing the news, the Catalan government yesterday said it had asked Enerpro for a report detailing the circumstances of Murillo’s presence at the CTTI. It seems that he worked there at night.

Also yesterday, Murillo testified in court, blaming his threat to kill Sánchez that he sent to a Whatsapp group on having drunk too much alcohol, and he insisted he had no intention of killing anyone. According to the Antena 3 TV channel, Murillo only wanted to appear as “a patriot” to impress a leader of the far right Vox party, who is also the person who reported Murillo to the police.

Murillo is the son of the last Francoist mayor of Rubí, and also a fan of Olympic sharpshooting and owned a large collection of precision weapons.
