Surgeons using magnets to reduce incisions

Improvements in surgical procedures often involve reducing the size and number of incisions. Using a technique for the first time in Spain, surgeons at the hospital have been using magnets to manipulate and move tissues and organs, reducing the need to make incisions. “It is a basic concept but one that is useful,” says one of the hospital’s head surgeons, Carles Giné.
