The White Album was released 50 years ago today

Today it’s exactly half a century since the Beatles’ two-side LP, The White Album came out. Still reeling from the 1967 release of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, White took them a step beyond the psychedelic genre they had unveiled. Some see White as the beginning of the end in terms of the group’s solidity behind the scenes because of George Harrison: the guitarist was fed up with the sound problems in the concerts, the chaos of a claustrophobic life, and the difficulty he had getting his songs on the group’s albums. In fact, Harrison’s name was on five songs, one of which was co-signed by the others.
