Pardon for British man sentenced to life for espionage

The president of the UAE, Jalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan, granted a pardon yesterday to Matthew Hedges, who had been sentenced to life imprisonment for espionage, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to the statement the pardon has an “immediate effect”, which will allow Hedges to leave the country once the bureaucratic procedures have been completed.
