“Total support” for Borrell in Abengoa scandal

The Spanish government yesterday unequivocally defended current Foreign Minister Josep Borrell after the sanction imposed on him by the National Securities Market Commission was made public. In November 2015, Borrell sold 10,000 shares of the company Abengoa for a value of €9,030. The transaction was carried out using “privileged information” about Abengoa and while he was a director of the firm. The Commission called it a “very serious offence” and fined him €30,000.
