Wine cellar. ANNA VICENS

Wine route through Alt Penedès

In the morning:

Celler Vilarnau (Sant Sadurní d’Anoia)

The Vilarnau winery is located in exceptional surroundings. The care taken over production, which shows rigorous respect for the environment, and the enthusiasm of its team are the keys to the firm’s success.

Vilarnau makes cava with the aim of having the least possible ecologic impact. The winery’s philosophy is that the better care you take of the land, the better the grapes grown on it will be, and therefore the better the cava.

In fact, the winery has been a pioneer in reducing its carbon footprint, with keeping CO2 emissions to a minimum a principle behind its organisation and production. With the installation of a biomass furnace, the winery has managed to reduce its use of fossil fuels by taking advantage of compost and organic material in the surrounding woodland. Vilarnau is also surrounded by a lake that is fed by rainwater, and which serves to water the estate’s gardens as well as the vineyards when necessary.

Vilarnau also boasts the Certificate of Organic Winegrowing from the Catalan Council of Organic Production, which requires reducing by 50% the use of chemical and phytosanitary products.

The winery has a shop and different areas to relax in the open air. It is an ideal spot for families, couples, groups of friends, businesses and motorhome travellers.

Guided visits for individuals and groups available.

For lunch:
La Taverna del Ciri (Terrassa)

The Taverna del Ciri has a long culinary tradition and is prized for its informal serving of alcoholic drinks, such as wine, beer and liqueurs, served with simple, homemade appetisers.

Only seasonal products are used, mostly from the local area, and sourced from local craft producers, which provides added value.

A simple set menu is served at lunchtimes and in the evenings, with tapas and classic small dishes served at night. As with the food, the wine list only has local products.

The desserts are all traditional and homemade, and prepared fresh every morning.

All menus, whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner, take great care to avoid all common intolerances and allergies. The premises are comfortable, but La Taverna del Ciri gives more importance to its food and drink than design.

It offers breakfasts Monday to Friday, set lunchtime menus Tuesday to Sunday, and dinner Wednesday to Saturday.
