Mariàngela Vilallonga, new culture minister

Mariàngela Vilallonga, the vice president of the Institute of Catalan Studies, is to replace Laura Borràs as the Catalan culture minister. Borràs has to leave the post to contend the upcoming general election as the second candidate for the Junts per Catalunya party. Vilallonga has plenty of experience working in the culture sphere. With a PhD in classical philology from the Barcelona’s Autonomous University and a professor of Latin Philology at Girona University, she was awarded the Cross of Sant Jordi in 2016.
