The highly controversial trial of the nine pro-independence leaders held in custody for organising the 2017 independence bid, along with Meritxell Borràs, Carles Mundó and Santi Vila, began in the Spanish Supreme court for the crimes of rebellion, sedition and misuse of public funds. ACN. -
Tens of thousands formed of a wall of people in Barcelona to protest the “farcical trial” of Catalan leaders charged over the 2017 independence bid. There were calls for unity, independence and a general strike, which was scheduled for later in the month and widely observed by Catalan institutions and commerce. EFE. -

The Santiago Bernabéu stadium witnessed a historic performance by Girona FC, who managed to defeat Real Madrid 2-1 in La Liga. Things only got worse for the merengue home fans, however, as Barcelona went on to win 3-0 in the stadium to seal their place in the Spanish Cup final 10 days later. EL PUNT.
