Wine route through... Terra Alta

In the morning:

Bernavi (Vilalba dels Arcs/Tarragona)

Marco, Ruth and Gino are three people with a single passion: wine. These are the winegrowers behind the Bernaví wines, which have their own special character and quality that comes from utmost respect for the land in which the grapes they are made from grow. The three are all wine artisans of the Terra Alta region, following Italian and Catalan traditions to produce their wines with both native and international grape varieties in Mas Vernet.

Mas Vernet is a coastal area with ideal conditions for maturing the grapes, with scarce precipitation and favourable winds. Meanwhile, the soil is rich in lime and chalk in a landscape that is as fascinating as it is extreme.

Wine production is not the only thing that makes Bernavi special, as it is a place that provides a meeting place for friends and customers as part of its work, in which direct contact with the producer and the land in which the grapes are grown are essential.

Bernaví has changed the concept of wine tourism, with wine experiences that allow visitors to enjoy the wine at all its stages among the people who produce it.

Visits for groups and individuals can be booked in advance.

For lunch:

La Casa ecològica (La Fatarella)

La Casa Ecològica aims to be a tribute to the ancestral architecture of dry stone, which is based on getting the most out of local natural resources. Thus, stone, wood and light are the main elements of a space ideal for hosting any artistic or cultural event.

The restaurant in La Casa Ecològica offers its own food with homemade dishes that are typical to the Fatarella and Terra Alta areas, such as truita en suc, amanida de ganyims, romesco and sardina en suc. The quality of the products used comes through in the finished dish, while the wines on its list are all handpicked from the local area and bear the Terra Alta seal of quality.

There is also a guesthouse with six double rooms and private bathroom, which are ideal for families looking for peace and quiet.

Meanwhile, La Casa Ecològica also offers a hostel service, with four rooms that can sleep six and shared bathrooms, ideal for any type of group.
