Porta Ferrada

Iggy Pop: irrepressible

Iggy Pop’s only concert in Catalonia this summer is one of the main attractions of the Porta Ferrada Festival, which as always takes place in the Costa Brava seaside town of Sant Feliu de Guíxols. This year is the 60th edition of the music festival, which boasts over 50 performances in eight different venues in the Baix Empordà town.

Porta Ferrada kicked off on July 2 with Marisa Monte, one of Brazil’s most popular performers, and the festival will come to a close on August 21 with rock duo Estopa, who will finish the Catalan leg of their Fuego tour at the Guíxols Arena.

In between, a host of international stars will pass through Porta Ferrada, such as Leon Bridges, Jamie Cullum, Kings of Convenience, Herbie Hancock, Simple Minds, Chucho Valdés & Paquito de Rivera, former Spandau Ballet frontman Tony Hadley, and Kool & The Gang. Homegrown talent at the event includes Joan Manuel Serrat, on his farewell tour, Nathy Peluso, Zoo, Sopa de Cabra, Tanxugueiras, Els Catarres + Suu, Vanesa Martín and Manolo García.

Beyond musical acts, the Porta Ferrada Festival will also showcase other artistic disciplines, with performances by La Fura dels Baus theatrical group and the Malandain Ballet Biarritz. Porta Ferrada will also host the second edition of the Salat comedy festival, this year starring Quim Masferrer and La Sotana, among others.
