Piqué hangs up his boots

1. FC Barcelona’s 2-0 defeat of Almeria on November 5 at the Camp Nou stadium was the last game of defender Gerard Piqué, who retired from football at the age of 35. Piqué played 615 games for Barcelona, winning three Champions Leagues, eight Spanish league titles and seven Copa del Rey trophies.
2. A draft report from the Inquiry Committee investigating Pegasus and equivalent spyware has backed accusations first made by Canadian research group Citizen Lab in April, triggering the hacking scandal known as Catalangate. The EU Parliament investigation found that 65 Catalans in the independence movement had been targeted.
3. La Marató, the annual fundraiser by the Catalan broadcasting corporation, announced this year’s album, Bum-bum, and book, La Marató sempre batega, which are part of the campaign to raise awareness of cardiovascular health. The 31st edition of the telethon on TV3 will take place on December 18.
4. After months of rising political and economic tensions between China and the United States, Chinese president Xi Jinping and his US counterpart Joe Biden clasped hands in greeting before their meeting one day ahead of the 17th edition of the G20 Summit held in Bali, Indonesia, from November 15 to 16.
