A stroll along the coastline

The coastal paths from Sant Feliu de Guíxols to S'Agaró or from Calella to Tamariu follow the seafront and allow visitors to enjoy the unique characteristics of the Costa Brava landscape

1

From Sant Feliu to S'Agaró

The trip starts at Sant Feliu de Guíxols, at the Jonca cove, and goes up to Sant Pol beach along a landscape of high cliffs and small coves. The second part of the road, from Sant Pol to sa Conca, passes through the luxury residential estate of s'Agaró, built at the beginning of the 20th century and which boasts modernist houses near beautiful coves surrounded by cliffs and rocks. In all, the coastline route is about a four-kilometre walk.

2

From Palamós to Castell

On the way out from the Pedró beach in Palamós, the coastal path heads North towards the Margarida cove, as far as La Fosca beach. At this point visitors can enjoy some spectacular landscape views of the Formigues islands and the remains of the Sant Esteve de la Fosca castle. A few steps further on, there is the beautiful s'Alguer cove, only a few minutes away from the Castell beach, an unspoilt corner saved from the urban speculation in the 1994 referendum.

3

From Calella to Tamariu

About seven kilometres separate the centres of Calella and Tamariu, which are part of Palafrugell county. The two-hour walk reveals a landscape surprises, with coves, beaches, cliffs and the Sant Sebastià lighthouse, which is halfway between the two towns The starting point is Portbò cove in Calella de Palafrugell.

The coastal path leads to Llafranc, from where you can go up to the Sant Sebastià lighthouse. A stop at Romaboia is a must, from where you can enjoy spectacular views of the 160-metre high Sant Sebastià mountain. The coastline continues northwards to the Pedrosa cove. Right after that, is Tamariu, a fishing village that has managed to keep most of it charm intact.

The route

Between Sant Feliu de Guíxols and L'Escala there are many coastal paths that follow a unique part of the Costa Brava, with caves, picturesque beaches and cliffs. Here we feature a selection of three of them, but there are many more that allow visitors to come up with their own route. Needless to say, the whole area boasts spectacular options for those looking for culture, natured and gastronomy.
