The Via Lliure has to be a success

With days until this year's Diada (September 11), inscriptions for the Via Lliure cap a la República Catalana continue. This year's celebration is special because it coincides with the start of a historic electoral campaign that will be decisive for the future of the country.

It is positive that the rate of inscriptions for the event has been high, because this 2015 on the Meridiana avenue we are risking everything. The Via Lliure will also be the last mass mobilisation before 27-S. It will not be easy for the Meridiana event to be a success, but it has to be impeccable if we want 27-S to be a true plebiscite on the national liberation of Catalonia.

The Via Lliure has to be different than in previous years, and has to represent the plurality of Catalan society. Yet, filling the 5.2 kilometres of the avenue will require publicity, propaganda and a spirit of mobilisation in which party loyalty is put to one side as a powerful media look on.

It is now the end of August, and we still have before us a job of preparation that has to make waves across world. The Via Lliure has to be a turning point in Catalan history. Now more than ever we need to be up to the task and to give that final push towards national transition.
