Experiences, sensations & the new tourism

New experiences and new sensations mark the latest trend in tourism. Catalonia and Barcelona have long made a name for themselves as top tourist destinations in Europe, and even the whole world. Tourism in Catalonia accounts for 12% of the economy and, every year, almost 20 million foreigners visit this country of 7.5 million people. But as in any field, succes in tourism can't be taken for granted either: it is a sector that needs to keep up-to-date, to maintain leadership and anticipate the requirements of ever more demanding clients. In this sense, tourists nowadays not only expect the best beaches and well-equipped accommodation, but also seek something extra to seal their choice: new and unique experiences.

Experiences are seldom emotional or intimate, and they are unrepeatable. They have do to with the cultural legacy of a country, with its products, and the added value brought by its people. A tourism based on sensations and experience calls for refined clients, people who are able to appreciate and value avant-garde gastronomy or wine tourism. Catalonia offers a set of top quality experiences that give other destinations a real run for their money. Our dossier invites you to rediscover Catalonia and make plans for the summer. Enjoy and pick your ideal route. We'll be back next month with a feature on all the upcoming summer festivals!
