Why did you leave Catalonia?
In 1996 I went to Germany to learn the language, I found a job and they offered to pay for my studies as well. The plan was to stay a for year and I have been here now for 10.
Why did you choose Munich?
I've lived in Munich since 2012 and before that I was in other cities around Germany because of work. I moved to Munich because I find it one of the most beautiful places and it's also a great place to live (the Alps mountains are spectacular).
Are you happy with the job opportunities you found in your adoptive country?
In general it is not a big problem, you can set your sights on the work you want and make something out of it for your future.
What do you think is the best thing about living in Munich?
The proximity of the Alps for mountain sports. Also the proximity to other countries, such as Switzerland, Austria or Italy, all three are less than an hour and a half away by car.
What do you consider the highlights for a first-time visitor on a short trip?
The city of Munich itself is great with the gardens and lakes that surround it. Bavarian culture is full of life!
And if visitors have more time or make a return visit?
Well, then they should head off to the Austrian Alps; there are unforgettable landscapes. Also Neuschwanstein castle: www.neuschwanstein.de
What do you miss from home most?
Mediterranean food!
Do you plan to go back to Catalonia?
No, because the work situation has been the same for the last 20 years.
