Wine cellar. ANNA VICENS

Wine route through...cava country

In the morning:

¸Cava Guilera (Lavern)

Cava Guilera is a small family business specialising in crafting vintage Reserva and Gran Reserva cava. This reflects the passion the family feel about what they do and their desire to provide a quality product and service. They are vintners, artisans and businessmen.

The current owner’s grandfather decided to produce his own champagne back in 1927, well aware that such a venture requires continuity. But thanks to the care taken over the years, thoroughness, seriousness and a philosophy of excellence in their work has helped them succeed.

Annual production is limited to 30,000 bottles and, without exception, it all receives the individual care of the owner, Pere Guileras.

The wine cellars are in a renovated 17th-century farmhouse, with a private garden with shade, tables and chairs and a hammock, ideal for spending a relaxing evening. All this is surrounded by vineyards and woods and has exceptional views of Montserrat mountain, being located just 50 minutes by train and a 40-minute-drive from Barcelona.

There is also accommodation, with two bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen, while the house has a large fireplace. Ca l’Artigas offers a wide range of wine tourism activities and it is a chance to discover the beauty and charm of El Penedès. They have a shop and various relaxation areas to enjoy the outdoors. Ideal for families, couples, friends, employers and motorhome owners.

Guided tours for individuals and groups.

For lunch:
Restaurant La Garrofa (Avinyonet del Penedès)

La Garrofa is a traditional restaurant well known in the area of Sant Sadurní and the surrounding area. It feels like it has always been there and started out as a simple roadside stop, but a few years ago was renovated and is now a lovely rustic restaurant. There are two dining rooms for groups and has individual tables and a dining lounge for large groups or banquets. The fare is top quality, with specialities such as rabbit with garlic, a dish the chef learned from his grandmother, salted cod, onions and artichokes, and the desserts are all homemade.

La Garrofa is known for its service, and is reasonably priced. The wine list has a great selection. A simple restaurant without too many pretensions, offering good value for money.
