Calella de Palafrugell will be filled with stars as the seaside town again hosts the Cap Roig Festival, with the first to shine being veteran British singer-songwriter, Rod Stewart The 78-year-old rocker will show that he has not lost an iota of charisma when he opens the 23rd edition of the music festival with the inaugural concert on July 14.
Between his performance and that of David Bisbal, who will close the event on August 19, there will be a host of top artists and groups on the line-up, including Norah Jones, Simply Red, Luz Casal, Sebastián Yatra, Vanesa Martín, Juan Diego Flórez , Manuel Carrasco, Pablo López, Lola Índigo, Damien Rice, Mika, Pablo Alborán, Ara Malikian, Els Amics de les Arts, Stay Homas, Taburete, Joan Dausà, Sílvia Pérez Cruz and Els Catarres.
Cap Roig will also have family-oriented shows, such as a performance by Dàmaris Gelabert (Aug 11) celebrating his 25-year career alongside the Grow Up Singing Band. Meanwhile, the De Simba a Kiara musical will pay tribute to the Lion King, both part of the Cap Roig Mini section. As for the charity concert, it will be held on August 17 with Vanesa Martín, and with all the proceeds going to equip the sensory stimulation room of the POTS association, which helps people with disabilities.
The food will be provided by Cal Blay Food Lovers, and twin chefs Sergio and Javier Torres of Barcelona’s Cocina Hermanos Torres restaurant.
