From six to seven and a half million

Fertility, life expectancy and migratory flows determine the population. This graph shows how, in the first place, between 1980 and 2000 the population remained around six million people. However, in the first decade of 21st century, it rose by 1.3 million, above all thanks to immigration. A decline is forecast for the immediate future, but with the help of migration, in 2026 we will be at the same level as now, close to 7.5 million.
