Espanyol and Barcelona face off in Catalan derby
It’s a big day for Catalan football today with Espanyol hosting Barcelona at the RCDE Stadium. With six home wins out of seven in all competitions this season, Espanyol are in the best shape for years to take on their illustrious neighbours. Yet, a rash of three successive defeats in recent weeks, and Barcelona keen to consolidate their lead at the head of the table, make another home victory far from assured. Barça will nevertheless be wary of their local rivals, who beat them 1-0 at home last season in the Copa Del Rey.
