PP boycott a boost for Euro conference

PP's call for a boycott could help Carles Puigdemont, Oriol Junqueras and Raül Romeva to fill their conference today in the European Parliament. What was to be just another small-scale event has now gained in importance thanks to the PP.

PP's Euro spokesman, Esteban González Pons, has called on EMPs to boycott the appearance of the Catalan politicians so as not to give the “the wrong impression” of support.

Yesterday, Spanish foreign minister Alfonso Dastis had “a friendly” conversation with Puigdemont. “It is legitimate for each to defend their political vision,” he said. Yet, the PP EMPs will boycott the event and Dastis admitted: “In the EU you can talk about anything but the referendum.”
