Erdogan wins in very tight referendum

In a very tight vote, Turkey's electoral commission declared that the voters in the referendum which would give Recep Tayipp Erdogan almost full constitutional powers as president had given the proposal the go ahead by a narrow margin of 51% against 49%. Around 85% of the population voted in the referendum and although most such votes in the past had been accepted, none has been this close. The opposition has claimed a massive fraud took place and has appealed for recounts and judicial investigations into more than 60% of the country's polling stations, claims backed by independent analysts. The yes vote now turns the country into a presidential state where Erdogan has complete control.
