Majority in British government want ‘transition period’

Britain’s Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond said yesterday that most members of the government are increasingly convinced of the need for a transition to bring to term the exit of the UK from the EU. “I think that now almost everyone in the cabinet accepts some kind of transition,” Hammond told the BBC after admitting that companies do not want to invest in the UK with the uncertainty over Brexit. “Clearly, companies (...) are hoping to have more clarity on what the future of the relationship with Europe will be,” he said. Talks with the EU resume today.
