Barcelona attends to 3,000 asylum seekers

Since January, over 2,900 people have been given assistance as asylum seekers in Barcelona by the Service for Immigrants, Emigrants and Refugees (Saier). The service’s director Ramon Sanahuja, and municipal Shelter coordinator IIgnasi Calbó said on Friday that costs have gone from €90,859 in 2013 to €1.5 million Spain has only accepted 11.4% of its required quota so far.
