Trump moderates tone, wants pressure on North Korea
Despite the good relations between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Donald Trump, the US president did not miss the opportunity to stress the need for the Chinese government to pressure North Korea over the nuclear escalation of the regime of Kim Jong-un. Trump was speaking at the official diplomatic reception yesterday in the Chinese capital. Xi responded saying that Beijing and Washington are “committed” to the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula and the search for a solution in “peaceful discussions.” Trump flies to Vietnam tomorrow.
