Kremlin claims elections are “legitimate”

The Kremlin has defended the “legitimacy” of the 2018 presidential election after the Electoral Commission rejected the candidacy of opposition leader Alexei Navalni. “The fact that a person is not eligible under the law to be a candidate, can not bring into question in any way the legitimacy of the election,” according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
