Porcine sector optimistic for 2018

The Farmers Union welcomes the recovery in prices in the porcine sector in 2017 with farmers ending the year on a positive note with gains of about €20 per beast on average. Farmers are hopeful that during 2018 the prices will remain high but will be between 8% and 10% lower compared to 2017. Despite the predictions, the Union emphasises remaining alert to health issues and biosecurity.
