Sánchez picks Borell for Foreign Affairs
Perdo Sánchez’s intention was to announce his cabinet tomorrow but events gathered momentum and one name has become public, that of Josep Borell who will take the Foreign Affairs portfolio. Borell, a seasoned politician was Minister of Public Works under González and then Speaker of the European parliament. A firm supporter of the anti-independence Societat Civil Catalana, the 61-year-old is known for his outspoken comments and attacks on pro-independence politicians. The other decision Sánchez has made public has been to confirm that he will reinstate the Ministry of Equality which existed in the Zapatero PSOE government between 2008 and 2010 when Bibiana Aído was minister.
