House sales grew 3.2% in first quarter of 2018

House sales grew 3.2% in the first quarter of 2018 in Catalonia, thanks to a rise in residential demand in the areas of Lleida (22.1%) and Tarragona (13.2%), where growth outstripped the average in Spain (8%). The figures published by BBVA Research show that some 21,069 dwellings were sold in Catalonia in the first quarter of the year, most of which (68%) were in the Barcelona area. Of these, 83% of the purchases were for first homes and mostly to local people rather than foreigners or investors.
