Barcelona passes motion to ban Franco foundation

Barcelona city council yesterday approved a motion urging Madrid to ban the Francisco Franco Foundation. The proposal, which passed with votes from the BComú and PSC parties, was put forward after the organisation defending the legacy of the former dictator announced its plans to open an office in the Catalan capital. The vote went ahead without the pro-independence parties, after the local government refused to adjourn the session on account of the protests against the visit by Spanish government ministers.
