Arrest of 1,112 police officers ordered in Turkey

The Turkish security forces have begun an operation to arrest 1,112 police officers who the prosecutor’s office has linked to the failed coup attempt in July 2016. The operation to detain the suspects, 130 of whom are currently active, affects 76 of the country’s 81 provinces. The others had been previously expelled from the force as they were being investigated for alleged collision. Since the attempt, over 8,500 troops have been expelled, while around 3,000 people were detained last month.
