Four injured in New York bomb attack
A man with a homemade bomb strapped to his body set off an explosion at a New York commuter hub during rush hour yesterday. In what New York Mayor Bill de Blasio called an attempted terrorist attack, no one was killed but the suspect wounded himself and three others.
Police identified the suspect of the attempted attack in the Port Authority Bus Terminal, a block from Times Square, as Akayed Ullah. The suspect sustained burns and lacerations while three others, including a police officer, had minor injuries.
A US resident, Ullah is from the city of Chittagong in Bangladesh, say police. He had no criminal record there. The weapon he used was based on a pipe bomb and attached to himself, police said.
