Virtual reality to help out ADHD sufferers

The Vall d’Hebron and Sant Joan de Déu hospitals are carrying out the first clinical trials on the effectiveness of virtual reality as a tool for treating patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The project will look into the viability of the new technology as a therapy, but researchers are optimistic given the initial results.

The virtual reality treatment in the programme has been developed by the Catalan company, Psious, and is being carried out with the help of Vodafone, which has provided the virtual reality goggles, which work on a high-security connection so as to ensure privacy. The treatment developed by Psious is based on exposure therapy in a virtual environment.
