A host of music for Barcelona’s Mercé

Of the 42 acts playing at BAM (Barcelona Acció Musical), taking place during Barcelona’s Mercè festival from September 21 to 24, some 24 include women, said the organisers at the festival’s presentation.

Some of the highlights of the BAM programme include such classic acts as Mercury Rev and Monochrome Set, emerging talent, such as Oddisee and Nathy Peluso, and favourites like La Bien Querida.

Meanwhile, the poster for Mercè Música highlights the farewell performance of Dr Calypso, as well as stimulating interest through the participation in the festival of Seun Kuti with the band of his father Femi, or the interreligious coming together of Jewish and Palestinian musicians in El Gusto.

In all, the Mercé festival will see a total of 135 acts from 19 countries performing in the Catalan capital, with this year, Lisbon as the guest of honour, with performances by fado acts, Cuca Roseta and Camané in Mercè Música.
