CaixaBank sets Jan 10 for talks over branch closures

CaixaBank has proposed January 10 as the day to present to unions the details of the bank’s strategic plan for 2019-2021, which foresees the closure of 821 branches, reducing the total number to 3,640. The number of employees affected by the closures is not known, nor what measures the bank is planning to take to minimise the effect of the planned lay-offs. Sources in the bank told this newspaper yesterday that the company’s plans envision a complete restructuring of the firm’s network of branches in Catalonia.
