Wine route through...Montsant

In the morning:

Celler Gritelles (Cornudella del Montsant, Tarragona)

The mountains of Les Gritelles and Montsant form the Cornudella valley, a place that has been inhabited since time immemorial. In the valley dominated by the villages of Siurana and Albarca, vineyards have been cultivated since before the Romans invaded and began exporting wine from the province of Tarraconensis to the rest of Europe.

The Gritelles winery is currently reviving the tradition of growing grapes on land that is full of minerals and made up of pebbles and stones, clay and slate, and that is also characterised by a varied coastal microclimate and the natural water of the valley.

At Celler Gritelles they produce wines made from the Grenache, Carignan, Macabeo and Syrah grape varieties, looking for the perfect balance that the ’bioengineering’ of nature can provide to the senses. The wines are allowed to evolve to the point where they reward the senses with the harmony of enjoyment embodied in nature. The winery has recaptured the essence of winemaking dating back to the ancestral times of the Priorat region and combined it with modern knowledge to make excellent-tasting contemporary wines .

It all begins in the vineyards, which are selected to best express the characteristics of the climate and the diversity of the soil, with its clay, limestone, slate and pebbles, drawing the best out of the grape so that the wines express the personality, complexity and singularity of each vineyard, year after year.

Guided visits for individuals and groups are available with reservation.
