Torroella de Montgrí a success

On Thursday, Jordi Savall and Hisperion XXI brought the Festival de Torroella de Montgrí to a close. The festival, which registered an average rate of attendance of 88.5%, was considered a success. Beginning on August 2, the festival welcomed a total of 9,939 spectators in the 22 days it lasted. This year's programme, which made early music its central theme, gave 13 paying concerts and 21 free performances, as part of the Fringe programme. Among the highlights were the recitals by the tenor Josep Bros and the soprano María Bayo. As for instrumental concerts, the festival's collaboration with the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès and the two concerts by pianist Jan Lisiecki were particularly lauded. Festival director, Montse Faura, said “the high attendance validated the festival's programming.”
